Ingredients for making Milk Cake Nest with dulce de leche:
2 cups of wheat flour (280 grams)
1½ cups of sugar (240 grams)
1 cup of milk nest
1 cup of hot water
4 eggs
3 tablespoons of butter
1 tablespoon of baking powder
1 can of dulce de leche or boiled condensed milk
How to make a Nest with dulce de leche Milk Cake:
In a bowl beat the eggs (yolks and whites) with the sugar until you get a creamy mixture.
Tip: I recommend mixing these ingredients in an electric mixer to make them very creamy, this is important for the dough to be very fluffy.
Little by little add the sifted flour together with the powdered milk, alternating with the water. Stir until you get a creamy, lump-free mixture.
Tip: The water should be hot, not boiling, to prevent the eggs from coagulating.
At the end, place the yeast and stir it slightly, to mix it in the dough without beating. Place the cake in a greased and floured pan and bake at 180ºC for 30-40 minutes or until it passes the toothpick test.
Tip: I baked the cake in a 22-24 cm diameter round pan without a hole in the middle, but you can use a rectangular pan or pan with a center hole.
To get a creamy dulce de leche topping simply beat the dulce de leche in an electric mixer until creamier.
Tip: The more you beat the dulce de leche or the boiled condensed milk, the less consistent it will be, so beat only enough to get creamy.
When the simple Nest milk cake is baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before unmolding. Then unmold, place on a plate and cover with the dulce de leche. Your delicious powdered milk cake and dulce de leche are ready to be enjoyed, bon appetit!
